Also known as continuous flow thermal processing, HTST offers several advantages over Bulk Pasteurization, including lower utility costs and higher continuous throughput. Use of regenerative heating and cooling can further increase operational efficiency. Basic systems typically include raw/supply balance tanks, feed pumps, tubular or plate and frame heat exchangers and hold tubes. Expanded systems can also be supplied with homogenizers, booster pumps, product storage tanks, regenerative heat exchangers, and adjustable-length hold tubes for variable processing rates.
